One of the areas EPSN Workforce is specialised in, is medical healthcare. This is not without reason: study shows that doctors and nurses are willing to leave their country for the perfect job. We help match these professionals with hospitals all over Europe.
The first logical reason is money. Even the article’s title of Politico “when doctors and nurses follow the money” confirms it. The research shows that a lot of health-professionals from East- or South-Europe move to the North-West. Romania, for example, lost half of its doctors between 2009 and 2015!
Next, there is the moral aspect. Public health is one of the most important elements in a society and people working in healthcare are driven to do the best for everyone. Where there is help needed, there will be health-care professionals. Think of third world countries, world disasters, big booming cities or countrysides with only a few inhabitants. Healthcare professionals, locals or not, are everywhere.
Furthermore, lots of doctors studied abroad and like their new home more than their hometown. Result: they don’t go back and stay in their new country.
We do agree that you cannot compare all universities, but we can say that the average quality of education in Europe is really high.
But what about the quality of conversations? Luckily, most terminology in medical healthcare is in English (or Latin). It can cause some difficulties when conversations with clients, but then again, a lot of people in Europe speak English. In addition, doctors are known for their eagerness to learn, so learning another language is something they will (mostly) like to do.
