Our Client is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join their Community Mental Health Team in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.  This post is being advertised as 1 whole time equivalent. However, please get in touch if you are interested in the position but want to work different hours.

Our Client strives to maximise clinical time for doctors so you will benefit from an assigned 0.5 WTE of direct admin support, as well as an established administrative support service who work for the whole team.  There is on-site parking and office space whilst working on site.  You will also work with other community services in East Sussex including High Weald, Lewes and Havens and Hastings ATS, Early Intervention in Psychosis and East Sussex Rehabilitation services. There are separate community services for patients with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of dementia (Memory assessment and living well with dementia teams in Eastbourne and Hastings, although HWLH currently provide a MAS service from the ATS).  

Main duties of the job

You will work with other community services in East Sussex including High Weald, Lewes and Havens and Hastings ATS, Early Intervention in Psychosis and East Sussex Rehabilitation services. The Trust operates a Quality Improvement methodology which is encouraged to be used by all staff. There are exciting opportunities to be trained in QI and undertake QI projects. This post is one example of the commitment of the Trust to develop better provision for the Eastbourne and surrounding areas and the families and carers using the service. There are also opportunities to use SPA time for teaching or clinical and other research through Sussex University and Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

Please also note that this post attracts a Golden Hello payment of up to £5000 as well as a Relocation Package of up to £8000.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • For community posts assist with the Triage system of new referrals into the team and assess their needs or signpost to alternative care providers, to attend weekly team meetings and provide supervision of team members/ medical trainee's.
  • Management of complex cases.
  • Clinical leadership of team.
  • Role in assessment of referrals/admissions.
  • Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
  • Liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.
  • Mental Health Act implementation and ongoing reviews.
  • Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.

You will be part of a Trust wide consultant network where there are opportunities to liaise with colleagues in other ATS posts throughout the Trust and develop peer networks.

Essential criteria

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • MRCPsych

Eligibility

Essential criteria

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
