Go local

How to keep the business going in hard times and help society: go local!

You can help your society as a career consultant or business developer. In this short article we explain how you can help the local market, while working from home.

Join local groups on Facebook and LinkedIn

These uncertain times are not only health-related. A lot of candidates are looking for a job and there are some industries in need of extra help during this pandemic. At EPSN, we can help matching these candidates and jobs.

Therefore, we ask our career consultants and business developers to do everything they can to help their (local) society. Our advice is to join as much as local groups on Facebook and LinkedIn. You can also decide to be part of groups which are business related (for example health professionals Netherlands). Here you find how it works, explainer per platform.

Facebook groups:

  • Step 1: go to www.facebook.com or open the Facebook app. Use the search bar and type in your region + jobs or vacancies;
  • Step 2: select “groups” in menu;
  • Step 3: select the most relevant hit(s). Visit the page first or join direct via the button on the right.
  • Step 4: select “about” in the menu;
  • Step 5: read their policy. Stick to their rules, otherwise the admin can kick you out of the group.
  • Step 6: start responding on messages and start posting!

LinkedIn groups:

  • step 1: go to www.linkedin.com or open the LinkedIn app. Use the search bar and type in your region + jobs or vacancies. Hit enter;
  • Step 2: select “groups” in menu. Note: it is possible that you first need to click “more” to find ‘groups”;
  • Step 4: read the section ‘about this group’;
  • Step 5: read the section ‘group rules’. Stick to their rules, otherwise the admin can kick you out of the group;
  • Step 6: request to join;
  • Step 7: start responding on messages and start posting!

Extra tips how to act in these groups:

As you can see, both LinkedIn and Facebook groups have rules / policies. Therefore, we recommend not to post too much content or to share a vacancy more than once.

Instead of posting a lot of own content, you can also help by responding on posts or questions of candidates. Like messages, ask them a question or try to get in contact with them via private messages.

Candidates also think it is sympathetic if you share knowledge. Become this person they go to, now or after the corona-crisis.

Good luck! Feel free to email us if you have any questions.
